Mrs. Wezet Botes graduated from the University of Pretoria: Faculty of Social Work in 1999 and has 16 years of social work experience in the field of child protection. Through her career she has completed 42 Children’s Court investigations and conducted 115 socio-emotional assessments. As a supervisor she had oversight of 9 social workers responsible for therapy and assessment services at Child Welfare Tshwane and canalized 327 Socio Emotional reports to the Children’s Court.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Forensic Social Work (2008) obtained from the North West University. She currently works part time as a social worker in private practice at Living Hope Consulting where she is responsible for the best interest of the child and forensic investigations as well as Court mandated cases. She is passionate about transferring skills and building capacity amongst social service providers directly involved in child protection services.
She has presented papers at the GDE ECD Stakeholders Forum (2016) UNICEF ECD KBS (2015) VVOS (2015) CRIMSA (2013) SAPSAC (2011) NIRSA (2009) IASSW (2008) and conferences. She has published two academic articles and two books in the field of child protection service management .She co-wrote an Impumelelo Innovation Award winning (2013) Mamma Zamma Mom’s & Kids Development Group Manual (2011). In 2014 Wezet wrote the Call to Arms: Child Protection Manual for the collaboration between the Nataniël Progress Project and Child Welfare Tshwane.
